1.Umm al Quwain beach
This beach literally feels like you are in the Maldives. We stumbled across it when searching for a breakfast place close by. Still quite untouched and not fully discovered, the turquoise colors and desolate sands are gorgeous. Try come in the morning when the different shades of blue really stand out. Because of it still being relatively undiscovered, bring your own sandwiches and food if you’re looking to do a picnic by the beach. There is the UAQ Kite Beach Center which does have a restaurant and provides surfing and kitesurfing lessons if you are looking for a more conventional place to eat by the beach and some sports to keep you entertained. You can find more information here: https://kitebeachcenter.ae/
2. Hatta Dam
This is a beautiful dam about an hour’s drive from Dubai. Surrounded by mountains, this is a local winter favorite. People enjoy hiking around Hatta Dam as well as kayaking in its waters. A nature lover’s paradise just a short drive from the bustling Dubai.
3. Sunrise Beach
Boasting a beautiful view of Dubai’s skyline, this beach is quieter on a weeknight. You can see set-ups by the beach where residents may be enjoying a meal by this popular beach during the winter nights. A bit more tucked away than a usual beach, it’s a quaint romantic spot in Dubai.
4. Dubai Offshore Sailing Club Beach
This beach is a quieter beach in comparison to Dubai’s more famous beaches like JBR and Kite Beach. With just one food place close by and no shops or such, this is a local favourite when looking for a more serene beach. Not as developed, you’ll find people kite surfing, scootering and biking.
5. Wadi Shawka
An hour away from Dubai, you’ll find an intermediate hike at Wadi Shawka. Drive up to the Wadi Shawka starting point and you’ll be taken on an hour and a half/two hour hike. With views of the surrounding mountain range as well as the wadi and some water in the wadi below, you’ll experience a perfect UAE terrain with the combination of the mountains, the sun and the water.
