I played badminton today. It’s been a while. 9+7 months. 9 months of pregnancy and my little guy is now 7 months old. That’s sixteen months. And I played tennis growing up. So after being away for a while, my mind’s gone back to default of tennis because those are probably where my strongest neural networks are at. So I’m hitting a lot harder than I need to be and using much more arm than is necessary. Today, I played alongside one of our strongest players and I asked her to pinpoint anything to strengthen my game. She just said to me just get your serve in, don’t hit too hard. That’s all. Before every point, she reminded me. It made a world of difference, for one, we can actually play out the point but it was simple, doable and other than that, she said I was playing great. And that was one of my best games. And I told her at the end, hey that was really helpful, just reminding me of that one point before every point. And she said, yeah, key is to just remind yourself, but other than that your game is fab. It really is that simple, to adjust the voices in our head, not to come down on ourselves too hard, our game is fab, there’s just a bit of tweaking involved.
