An hour and a half drive away from Dubai, the Al Rabi Trail is a perfect beginner’s trail with spectacular views.
Getting there and hiking
Towering above the city of Khorfakkan, enclaved by its mountains, with the Gulf of Oman on the other side, the views coupled with the facility of the hike is a definite must-do if you want to start hiking or even if you are a seasoned hiker. A shorter hike as well, which should take about an hour and a half to two hours for the entire thing (if you’re stretched for time) otherwise you can take as long as you want on this beautiful mountain. There are several spots to take some amazing pictures of the surrounding mountains and the Gulf of Oman. Sunrise and sunset are perfect times to go, especially if it’s during the warmer months and you’ll be sure to hear the city resonating to the Adhaan, the call to prayer at both times which is a heartwarming experience.
Parking
If the place isn’t too busy (generally a weekday and in off-peak April to September), you may be lucky and find a parking spot at the Al Rabi Tower. However, if not, you can park at the bottom of the mountain where more parking is available.
