I haven’t always been one for taking or keeping a lot of pictures. I climbed Kilimanjaro without a camera. I felt like I wanted to be in the moment. But I’m starting to feel the importance of recording information. Being a mother, I now look back at the pictures my parents took. Of me. Of them. Of people. The older we get, maybe we realize our parents were not just our parents. They had their own stories. They were full people before us. Who liked things and did different things. Who had a whole world. Not only do I want to know more about them, I want to know more about me. How did I sleep? Was I a happy baby? What time was I born? All of these give me insights into now and I want to know it all. So, here’s to more recording. More pictures to save. This was in 2015. Trolltunga, maybe one of the longest and most arduous hikes I’ve done in a day. So worth it. The last picture is in Edinburgh from our hostel room that lead to the roof. I write this with Baby O on my lap so that one day if he wants to know what his mama did. It’s here. Life is precious.
Savour it. Every part. Every stage. Alhamdulillah.
