I’m a big one for poetics. I’d visited Jebel Shams in Oman (mountain of the sun) so I had to go visit Wadi Rum (valley of the moon).
Movies like the Martian, Dune and Star Wars have been filmed here unsurprisingly with its red sands and outer space like visual. After visiting Petra, this was our next stop. We stayed at Bubble Luxotel Wadi Rum which is one of the more popular ways to stay in Wadi Rum and these bubbles are located within the wadi. Once you’ve reached the parking of the hotel which is generally still on paved roads, someone will come pick you up for you to follow them to the hotel. Driving up to the hotel can be a little bumpy and dusty as you drive across its red sanded- terrain.

Temperature here can really vary and even though we thought it may be a bit warm being in March – we were freezing here. Not surprising in a sense. The desert always boasts really hot or really cold but we found the hotel rooms a bit chilly and the showers a bit small. The food was amazing though. Be sure to take part in excursions whether its sunset drives or looking up at the stars through telescopes at night, there’s a lot to do in Wadi Rum.
